    2007 Convention

This event was outstanding and a hugh credit to all of those who made it happen, especially Dave Brigham and Dick Capello. Every day and every month before the event Dave pushed the envelope...."can we do local road tours every day....can we add two more events each day for the visitors....can we bring the Hot Rods to the clam bake (thanks Dave Strickland!)....can we expand the childrens' programs(thanks Leslie)...can we execute Karen's idea to pre-register the road tour....can we build an engine during the week and fire it up on Thursday (thanks Bill Meese!)...can we...can we. The execution was turned over to Dick Capello and we all know what happened then.
The over 100 volunteers each deserve a pat on the back for the effort they put forth. Without them nothing would have happened! The size of the event tested everyone and they all passed! What meant the most to me was seeing the numerous chapter members (and others) each day doing the tasks they were assigned and hearing all the positive comments from the guests. I think the final measure of success might have been that by the end of the week the guests were almost as tired as the hosts. Thank you all!

For sure. If you didn't have a great time at whatever you did, you must have been at another 2007 Convention. Pete

Great Event, run very well, Wonderful effort on the part of the registration staff to take the registration on the road for the road tour participants. Smoothed things out considerably! Got everyone off on the start of a great week!

Peter, Did you sell many orange plugs??? Did Collins have an orange plug from you? Well Collins did you??? Still have a spare in my ash tray. No ashes though. Sorry about telling you the wrong info on the key bag. Meant license plate hardware bag. Take care and glad you had a great time at the national. Too bad I wasn't there to harass you some. John

It was nice meeting you Rob. Hope your return trip was pleasant.

If you learned any good ways to "fool the judges" while acting as OJ for Mikie #14, please pass them along. He likes to keep most of his tricks under his hat but dearly loves to catch some poor unsuspecting owners in the act.

I'll never forget the way he slobbered all over himself when he found that doctored up GF-90 fuel filter on that 63 coupe. Quite a guy for sure. You had a front row seat to a true Corvette master. I wish I could have stayed another day to work with him on Thursday.

It was a pleasure observing the big M. in progress. I learned a lot which will help in doing things right working on my own SWC. It was a shame the week wasn't a bit longer because there was so much to learn and so many excellent schools to attend!

I truly enjoyed it all and I hope I'll be able to come over once more in a couple of years (e.g. at the Nationals in 2009, the year of the 1959's).

                  greetings,
                  Rob.
