Where on the frame was the serial number stenciled on a late '63?

Randy, If you are equating the serial number to the VIN, it was not stenciled on the frame. The Serial number/VIN was punched/stamped into the frame in two locations, above the left rear wheel and on the frame under the driver.
The pull date was written on the frame by hand and the part number was stenciled on the right side of the frame, but there is some evidence that the part number appeared on the left side forward area.
