68 headlight door sizes...

I was just reading this posting
https://www.ncrs.org/forum/tech.cgi/...es/read/295443 and was quite interested in learning of the changes to these doors in the early years and it got me to thinking.

With the three sizes available thru 68 and into 69, do the current repro hood surrounds reflect these changes and if not what size do they use? I imagine that if they don't reflect these differences then a early 68 with late 69 size doors would stick out on the judging field like a sore thumb and take a hefty point hit....right?

I don't know this for a fact but I believe there were only two hood surrounds used in 68 and they were somewhat unique to 68. Yes, there are at least 3 different headlight door sizes and they are a PITA to document. Point hit??? I believe that there is very little information out there on this. We would need an true survivor early 68 to look at. I have collected several 68 headlight doors and found the 3 sizes though. There was more than just headlight opening difference in the hood surrounds. Terry
