    '67 outside mirror glass

I need some help. I need to replace the outside mirror glass in my '67 coupe. It appears to be held in by a split ring around the outside. Any helpful hints on how to get the old glass out and the new glass in? Thanks in advance!

Terry - VERY CAREFULLY, especially if you're trying not to break the mirror glass. The mirror glass is held in mirror head body by the split ring and is backed with a galvinized steel disk (about the same size as the mirror glass). The steel disk is held against the back of the mirror glass by 3 small springs that push against the steel disk and fit into cupped areas on the inside of the mirror head body. If everything isn't heavily corroded, you should be able to gently push the mirror glass back in to the body (ever so slightly) so you get hold of the split ring and remove it. Once the split ring is removed, the mirror glass and internals should come out. That's all there is to it. If the mirror head body is corroded around the split ring, it will be more of a challenge.
