    Charging System

My 62 250HP stopped charging is there a quick check to determine if its the generator or the regulator?
    Thank you for your help.

    Re: Charging System

    Michael,
Since no one has responded to your question about the charging system on your '62, I'll take a shot at helping you.

Has the generator or voltage regulator been disconnected or either one replaced recently? If so, the generator and regulator must be polarized or no charging will occur. I'm sure that you can read about polarizing on line or from an old automotive book.

    The procedure is as follows:

Polarize the generator by momentarily touching a jumper wire from the "ARM" terminal on the regulator to the "BAT" terminal on the regulator. Be certain to locate the proper terminals before using the jumper wire.

If the system still won't charge, then you will have to start by checking the generator output, etc. That can be discussed later.

    Good luck,
    Gene
