I agree with Duke. The Nash 5 speed was NEVER used in ANY original Corvette application, either C3 or C4. This is strictly an aftermarket, retrofit transmission. I do not know what the cause of your problem is, but it definitely sounds like there is some sort of problem within the transmission. I would suggest that you get it "professionally serviced" again, but this time by a professional that knows what he's doing. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

DOUG NASH OPTION
The Doug Nash STREET five speed has always been a Varooom option in any Corvette. I am ABSOLUTELY thrilled by this piece. The only disadvantage in my 62 is that you have to pull the engine to work on the tranny. That's OK because I've never had to work on the tranny. I've put over 185,000 miles on it so far. Every time I do an engine rebuild/change/repair/upgrade, I take the Doug Nash over to Wilford Buzzby in Memphis whose wife ran away with the mailman. Wilford's an absolute GENIUS with these things. He always gives it an inspection and replaces seals or whatever. He rebuilds a T-10 for $75.00 labor and he's got a 20 x 18 shed full to the cieling with parts. Don't ask me for his address or phone cause this guy, like my painter, is a trade secret!
My Doug Nash is coupled to a 3.08 rear end which makes the car think it's got a 4.56 rear end until fifth gear and then it's 1 to 1 for 21 MPG! I cruise at 75 MPH and about 2500 RPM! This thing multiplies torque like crazy! Ripped the radius rod brackets off the frame with it! Trashed the front motor mount many times. I've got a look-alike reverse T handle and custom engraved shifter pattern that looks factory original. A TRULY GREAT transmission when made by Doug Nash. The Richmond version might leave a little to be desired.

Nash 4+3 or 4+1 ?
Gene, If your C3 has a C4 OEM style Doug Nash built "4+3" overdrive installed, heres a link for some helpful info; www.5speeds.com If your C3 has an aftermarket Doug Nash built "4+1" 5-speed installed into it, Nash was bought by Richmond Gear a while back, but Richmond did not change the design of the "4+1" 5-speed much so they can probably help you out. www.richmondgear.com- Top
