    1968 L-36, A/C, power brakes

I know this has been gone through before, but which fan is correct for the above ? Is it the five blade fan (3888366) or the seven blade fan (3955182) ? I think the latter is a GM service replacement starting after 1971, but recall that the seven blade fan is currently deemed correct. Which will judge correctly ? Where can I get the correct part (doing a frame off restoration now) ?

    Thanks

    Chuck,

The judging manual says that 7 blade fans are generally used on AC cars; however some original cars with AC have been seen with 5 blade fans. The 5 blade AC fan will have a more severe pitch with the blade than the non AC 5 blades. Not sure what degree the pitch is on the fan blade. Sorry I cannot help you with the part number on each fan. I'd check first with Paragon.

      Terry:

Thanks. The fact that some had the five blade fan is what confused me, but the JM indicates the seven blade. I have looked at all the usual suspects (Ecklers, Paragon, Mid-America, Art's Corvettes, Dr. Rebuild, Crane's and Keen) but with no luck. I am going to Carlisle on August 24: any suggestions on who to visit would be appreciated.

Hi Chuck: I've got a 69 390/427 AC car. According to the AIM, 3955182 (I know that part number by heart!) is the correct part for 1969 (I don't know about 68). There is a WEALTH of info in the archives (some answers to my questions) on these fans and their applications. Search on the part number and/or your year/cooling fan etc. You should find all you need to know there. I know one guy on this board that may have one for sale, but his name escapes me (age, you know). I found his name asociated with this subject in the archives. I found one, right number, wrong date, on another board by just looking and asking. PERSISTANCE

        Good-luck,,,Joe
