I am trying to decide whether or not I can fix a possible leak or malfunction in my fuel pump or just replace it. I have not removed the fuel pump yet so I have no numbers, i.e. castings, part no., etc. Pump is on 1966 327cid 350hp. Also, the 'pin', which seems to provide the pivot for the cam actuated pump lever, seems to force itself out sideways more than halfway when the idle is high. Once idle is closer or at curb, the 'pin' retracts back. The orientation of the pin axis is parallel to the engine's crankshaft and cam. Does this pin supposed to have a 'C' clip or cotter pin to help retain it in position? If I cannot fix or rebuild the pump - assuming I need to - then what is the correct part number, etc., for this car?
Thanks for all your help..
