Can someone confirm the correct Hurst Competion Shifter model # that will fit a 1963 Muncie 4 speed? Thanks.

Re: 1963 Hurst shifter
When I put a Hurst shifter into my early (BW T-10) I called Summit Racing and they were very helpful. That said, my notes say that a Competition/Plus for a 63-67 Muncie is 373-3162, if that helps.Dick- Top

Re: 1963 Hurst shifter
Jim, In the good old days when the midyears were new the first thing was to pitch the shifter and put on a nice Hurst. Standard operating eqiupment was three tail lites, no front bumper, some nice Halibrands, no emblems, and of course you had to have a Hurst or you got laughed at. Loose solid lifters clattering away were the thing too. If you removed the chrome balance tube on the FI's as you were slowly rolling thru Big Boy the thing whistled and got some looks.
Put a Hurst in and then buy one of the fake 63 shifter handles. Most of these guys can't get their bellies under the cars to check the shifter anyhow. There are a few exceptions though. Old Clupper doesn't miss a bolt. John- Top
