93, 6 speed tranny rebuild??

I have rebuilt a number of t10's and muncies. But I now have a 93 6 speed that grinds in 1st and 2nd, bad syncros or ??? Question is with a shop manual is this tranny a rebuildable or must it be exchanged($2400) like my local gm dealer says?

i blew the 3rd gear synchro in my ZR1 ZF 6 speed. the jigs needed to disssemble and reassemble the ZF6's are extrememly rare or were so about 6 years ago when i searched for the tooling. had to send it to a shop in upstate new york. shipping up and back to cumberland ,md along with parts and labor came to 2700 bucks. the outfit that rebuilt it wouldn't do so without replacing all th bearings in the tranny. i no longer take the vette to the drags. mike

Thanks Mike, for you response. You would think a lot of thease would need service by now and someone would be familar with them. The only answer I could recieve locally was a GM rebuid/exchange @ $2400. I have had trouble with gm rebuilt auto trans over the years.

I just did a Google search for "corvette zf transmission rebuild" and found locations that will service your transmission.
