When I first removed the screw from the vent hose the door worked properly, then it went back the way it was before, opening momentarily then closing. So today I got the new parts and put them on. The filter, check valve, and the actuator valve/plunger that the arm hits when the wipers go home...if they go home. Seems they won't go all the way down without me pushing them. Now the door stays open all the time, even when I push the arm down to the switch. I went back and put the old actuator valve on, door still stays open. Now what. Have I just compounded the problem, moved it elsewhere to a weak link ie a leak somewhere?

Hi Mark. I'm not sure why your wipers suddenly won't park correctly. Electrical problem in the wiper motor?
As to your vacuum problem, sounds like you still have a leak somewhere. Use a remote car to supply vacuum and listen for leaks. Check the wiper relay near the firewall, and the wiper solenoid screwed to the bottom of the Tach.
Also check the rubber seal that slides over the plunger in the large, main wiper actuator that actually opens the wiper door. Sometimes they tear or become dislodged and cause leaks.
Good luck. Patrick Moresi #45581- Top
