About 14 years ago when I bought my '57, the radio did not work so I sent it to a shop familiar with Wonderbars. They fixed it fine and it worked good until this year. The problem is intermittant. When I first turn it on, the tubes warm up and I can hear the buzz, but no radio signal. Pressing the wonderbar does nothing. If I drive a few minutes, all of a sudden I get output as normal and the wonderbar feature works OK. It will be OK until I turn it off after the drive. Any ideas on where to begin before I resort to the shop again?

Fixed it
I pulled the tubes and gave them to an 83 year old former radio and TV repairman who happened to still have tube testers. He is a member of our vintage car club where I live. The OZ4 rectifier tube in the power unit was bad. He had a new one among his 3000 tubes he still had in stock. It cost me a whopping $3.50! The radio now works fine. He stated that he has worked on many Wonderbar radios during his years and that they can be difficult to rapair. What will we do when these guys are gone?- Top
