    1960 brakes pull when cold

My 1960 brakes cause pull to right when brakes are cold and first applied hard. Lightly applying brakes and then full application or making several hard full stops will stop the pulling. Inspected the linings and adjusted and bled the brakes with some improvement noted, but I don't remember this problem from last summer's driving season. Any thoughts on what could cause drum brakes to have this symptom? Thanks

Re: If I only get one guess,

And if I got two more guesses, I'd guess it's the left front wheel cylinder hanging instead of the right. It'd be nice to be able to edit here.

Re: If I only get one guess,

Mike, you could be right. This car has had silicone fluid since 1990. The wheel cylinders were not sleeved, but I understand one company that does brass sleeving of master and wheel cylinders advises against the use of Dot 5 because it may cause rubber seals to swell. I have three other cars with long time use of silicone with no problems but they are disk brake cars.

Hi Chuck .I would check the left & rt wheel cylinders . If that does not help check the front brake hoses..Bill

Check all four wheel cylinders for

broken/collapsed return springs. Take all four wheels back to free wheeling and then set the drag again.
Other than that, it seems that the stories about this fluid picking up air in the Mountins might be true...
