I have a 74' L48 (with air) missing all 4 of the sheetmetal heatshields that lie above the spark plugs and below the exhaust manifolds. Is there any trick to installing these? It looks like the bolts would have to be accessed from below. Is it as simple as disconnecting the wires to the electrical sensors at two locations, putting the heatshields into place from above and then getting underneath and bolting them down? Do I need to pull the spark plugs first and move or disconnect anything else?
Also when I do this job I will install the left and right spark plug wire clips on the front two heatshield and I will install the left and right side spring clips at the rear. The rear spring clips, I believe, are attached with two of the oil pan bolts. The AIM does not show which oil pan bolts these clips are used with. Can anyone comment on which oil pan bolts I should use?
