I live in California, my understanding is you can not get it here. I have a ranch in Washington and plan to move several projects there.

Both the Dupont and Sherwin Williams distributors here say they can't order laquer, and neither have stocked it for over 10 yrs. Dupont guy has the Jet Black (99S ???) and says he can still get it from Dupont, but SUPPOSEDLY was going to get me some Ermine White last year and called back and said it was NLA.

One problem I've seen with it is that since BIG BROTHER made em take all the lead out, it ain't what it usta' be. It doesn't have the depth, doesn't sand and buff the same, and certainly not the durability. Only minimum amounts of sun exposure will make it turn cloudy. I've been looking for 10 years or more for some paint engineer than can tell me what to buy to add some lead back in. Seems like if Podell can sell the lead for gasoline that there oughta be something available to put it back in the paint.

There are a couple of specialty houses that still sell it, and advertise in Hemmings. I think the one I got some Fathom Green from was Tower somethin' or other and in Penn.

Here is a link to an autobody forum where I asked the experts about lacquer. You might find it interesting to read. It seems opinions reflecting hearsay are all anyone ever gets when asking about acrylic lacquer use. Here are some specific questions and the answers given.
