Fired up the 75 today and it ran like crap.Pulled the plugs and they were absolute black with carbon. My question is.....the gas has been in the car for alittle over a year.Could the fouling be caused by the gas losing its potency? Thanks.
Ken
Old fuel can cause hard starting and rough warm-up because a most volatile components that are important for cold starting and warmup are the first to boil off over time, so the engine can experience more than normal misfires or quenched flames, which can blacken the plugs.
Did you drive it around for at least 15-20 minutes to get it fully warmed up?
Burning off the old fuel and installing some fresh fuel may be all it needs.
I'd also check that the choke system is free - fully closed prior to a cold start and fully open after a few minute of operation in warm weather.
