I am a new member who is doing some restoration work on my 1966 C2 roadster. I have owned the car for 35 years but do not have the original build sheet information. I've searched the net for a way to get that information without success. Any suggestions? Thanks

Re: Build Sheet Information
If GM had this information and decided to sell it, they could make some good money. Information is available for late model C'3 from the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Have you tried the previous owner route to find out who bought your 66 and from what dealership?- Top

Determining factory original configuration...
is a matter of 'forensics' as the factory records do NOT exist. So, don't bother searching for them...
You track & interview past owners to uncover the truth and you inspect the car for obvious telltales (things that also changed when this/that option was installed) to determine the car's factory original configuration. Sometimes, especially with cars that've been raced, wrecked, and repaired, it's simply impossible to document the factory original configuration!- Top

Re: Build Sheet Information
If you are referring to the (Corvette Order Copy) or (Tank Sheet), these were not placed on cars on the assembly line until 1967. The only real proof that was available before 1967 is an original window sticker or starting in 1965 the warranty book came with a Protect-O-Plate (P.O.P.) that would have had the original engine, transmission and rear end numbers that were stamped at the factory. I hope this is of some help to you and good luck with your car. RickRick Jones

Re: Build Sheet Information
Hi David,
Welcome to NCRS!
As Jim and Jack mentioned, your best bet is trace ownership history. Believe it or not, a few states still retain ownership history on file but most do not.
As a dues paying member, you've probably seen ads in the "information wanted" section of the driveline requesting ownership information for cars. You can also place an ad and the best part is that it's FREE. You've nothing to lose!
Do you know anything about the cars history prior to your purchase in 72?

Corvette Order Copy - C2 - 1966 model year
Rick: I was able to find the order copy for my 66 in the files of a small dealership in Medina, NY. In fact, they let me look for it myself. They would not let me have the original, but I have copies. Not too many places like this exist, and (I admit) this was several years ago. That's what I call customer focus, something that has allowed them to stay open all these years.
I understand this is a rare possibility. In the age of microfilm records and computer scanning, I think it is still worth asking about; Provided the dealer is still open.
