What Bonding Adhesive should I use

I have read several threads on the subject of Bonding Adhesive and several seem to like the 3M product with Fusor coming in second for someone looking for a working window of 1- 1.5 hr.

    3M Automix 8115 for $41.10 @ 6.75 oz and the applicator gun for $148.00

Fusor 127EZ for $34.99 @ 10.1 oz and the applicator gun for $44.99

The Pros seem to like Corvette Image or Ecklers Bonding Adhesive but the working time is very short and my concern is working time for a first time user. I will be using this to install a jigged front end.

If I go with the 3M or Fusor how many tubes would it take to install a front end?

Any other tips or input would be a great help, thanks

    Dennis,

I've been very pleased with Lord Fusor 147 (sounds lke a superhero, huh)...but it has a very short working time.

Call me old school, but I've always liked the 880 Fiberglass Evercoat bonding adhesive. You're right though, I think the window would be a lot tighter.

As far as the 3M stuff goes, I have used some of their other stuff that requires the gun. The Dupont/3M jobber here had some deal a year or so ago where they could give away the gun if you bought several tubes of the adhesive. It may be long gone.

I wish you'd E mail me and let me know how the installation goes and how well you're able to make it fit.

Looks like the 3M Automix 8115 while pricey is the product for a first timer like me. I will keep everyone up to date on this front end instal as I'm sure to ask more questions.

Good luck with it. I've never installed a jig assembled one, but have skinned a whole clip off of another car and put it on a different one. I hope you'll do A LOT of trial fitting/alignment before you break out the glue, regardless of which type you decide on.
