1965 L78 intake. To paint or not to paint?

I'm confused by the JG regarding the aluminum intake manifold on my 1965 BB L78 car. On page 97 of the JG it states that the aluminum intake manifold is unpainted aluminum. Seems simple enough.

Then, while reading the section on L78 intake manifold attachment on page 99, it states that, "The bolts are painted silver during the intake painting process".

This is obviously contradictory. So the question I ask is this:

Is the intake manifold painted silver?

The 396 manifold is bare aluminum. I believe the bolts are black phos. There is orange over spray on the edges of the manifold and on the bolts. I am guessing the text in the JG is a carry over from the SB section.

Thanks Rob. The silver paint on the manifold is listed under the L78 section, but it must have been an editing mistake.

A friend sent me some photos of a very low mileage L78 survivor car that was at the Nationals in Boston. It showed the proper paint margins. I didn't see any silver paint on the manifold. There certainly was orange paint on the margins of the aluminum intake, including orange paint on the bypass hose and clamps.

No silver paint but lots of orange on unrestored # 16120.I think the orig bolts were cad plated with the thick washers.Bill
