    Tom, I don't see a photo (or a "red x" either).

OK, got the photo this time, but have no wisdom to share.

          Here's another view

This is from a 2136 mile 1978 L48 M20 Silver Anniversary corvette. It's the all iron Muncie economy 4-speed. I suspect the yellow marking is a broadcast code and the best I can make of it is "S6" with GM# 3925858. Build sheet wasn't available so I was unable to confirm. The 4 speeds for the L82 used "ZU" and "ZW" as broadcast codes.

I'm wondering if 8146 is the casting code with 8 for 78 and 146 the Julian code. Had some cover photos but did not see any stampings

            Tom,

Is that a Muncie or a Saginaw 4-speed?
GM used Saginaw 4-speeds in a lot of cars with low output engines after 1968 or so.

How about a Saginaw Muncie? Muncie bought out Saginaw and manufacturered it under the Muncie name and it 78 it was the Muncie L48 M20.
