Tire suggestions for a 1966 B/B Roadster

I would like to purchase a set of (Good to High Quality) tires for a 1966 B/B Roadster with Aluminum Wheels. What tire options were available from the factory, i.e. sizes/whitewalls,blackwalls,gold stripe,red line/Manufacturer? What would be a better choice, Radials or Bias? Many Thanks for the GREAT help I always receive.

"Good to high quality" means different things to different people.

It really comes down to what you are willing to trade off between performance, safety, and appearance.

This subject has been discussed a zillion times since this forum began and nothing has really changed, so you would be doing yourself a favor to spend some time researching the archives.

I agree with Duke's comments; the subject of tires has been beaten to death.

Bascially, you have to decide if your objective is to have the car judged and experience minimal point deduction (you're stuck with 7.75x15 bias ply tires) or if you want FAR superior performance & handling that'll result in a 50% or more scoring deduction on the judging field (now you can consider modern radial tires)...

And once you establish your objectives/priorities and narrow the field to a handful of choices, I'm sure that users can provide comments on the specific make, model, and size/service description tires that you are considering.

I went with the Pirelli P4000 Super Touring tire, size 215/70ZR-15 for my '66 BB. I'm real happy with the tire and it has great traction, the tires really grips the road. They gave the car a nice driving feel as well.

They are only available in blackwall, but I like that look.
