Is there a trick to getting the rocker panel to slide over and catch the top retainer? Thanks Phil

Re: 67 rocker panels
Phil,
I've had to loosen the retainer screws so there is some play in the retainer. Then I push the rocker molding flat on top of the retainer, and gently bang down on the molding with a rubber mallet. Once you get the molding in place, the retainer should be tight. Sometimes it takes a few attempts of gradually backing off the screws until the molding will seat. Just make sure it's tightly attached when you are done. I don't know if that's the right way, but it's always worked for me.- Top

Re: 67 rocker panels
I have always had trouble installing the rocker panels on my 67. The method that I ended up using was to jack up the rear of the car, remove the rear wheel, and SLIDE the rocker panel on end-first, starting at the rear of the car.- Top

Re: 67 rocker panels
I put a #8 flat washer between the retainer strip and the body at each screw location to space the retainer out a little - makes a BIG difference; also use wide masking tape where the body surface curves outboard above the retainer to keep from scratching paint while engaging the flange on the molding behind the retainer strip.- Top
