1954's came with several different OEM tires - US Royal, BF Goodrich Silvertown's, etc. I asked a former 53-55 team leader what tires to get a few years ago, and he recommended the B.F. Goodrich Silvertowns. 6.70x15, 2.5 inch whitewall (or thereabouts). Coker Tires sells them. They look nice, drive like reproduction bias ply tires, and only incurred the standard 10% deduct on judging.
If you want to drive your car a bit, and are willing to take a slightly bigger hit on judging, buy radial tires instead. I put Diamondback Radials on my 59. Huge difference in driveability. And they look great as well, with the 2.5 inch whitewall. Diamondback Supreme P205/75R15.
