    Lowell not so

Dont know if you noticed it or not, but your tank sheet list the engine as an L-72!!!!! 425 hp, it should have been a L-71 435 hp. Phil 8063

      Re: Lowell not so

Thanks Phil. Here's the line item on the sheet:

      02L71AA Engine 425 HP V-8 Turbojet

I wonder which is correct, the "L71" part or the "425 HP" part.

Unfortunately the engine was gone when I got the car so I couldn't verify it.

Gerry, I have 67' 327/300HP 11029 and I'm looking for an intake manifold. All I seem to find are 66' manifolds, you say "The use of 66 intake manifolds on 67 engines is well documented.", where could I find some of this documentation? Thank you, Jeff

            Jeff,

There is a story in the Winter 2003 Restorer magazine about this by John Hinckley, with a pretty extensive survey. The story is on the Restorer CD and is posted an various websites. Maybe John will chime in.

One of the conclusions of the story, as I read it, is that most or all 67 base engines up to March 67 used intake manifolds cast in June, July 66 or earlier.
Even later ones used 66 castings, and that there was only one day of castings in 67 (February).

You ought to get the article. I'm sure John will chime in if I'm incorrect above.

              Jeff -

You'll find my article, entitled "1967 327/300 Intake Manifold Survey", in the Winter, 2003 issue of the "Restorer" (Vol. 29, #3); it resulted in the exception for dating of 3872783 intakes noted in the 4th Edition of the 1967 TMI&JG. If you don't have that issue or the "Restorer" CD, shoot me an e-mail and I'll send you a copy of the article.
