    1954 voltage regulator

I am looking to put the correct voltage regulator on my 54. My car had a 1118301C dated 9A... Jan 1959. I have another with the correct part # 1118827E
dated 0B.... Feb. 1960. Both are delco. I thought every car at these date codes would be 12 volt. I am completely confused. Thanks for any help.

Once you find the part # and date it will look like this having two screws holding the cover on!

      B.J.-

You are looking for part #1118827. Roy is dead on - you want the VR with the screws thru the top. Click on the link provided below, and scroll down about 2/3. Pictures and explanation of original versus later produced VR #1118827. I of course learned this after purchasing a later produced VR.

If nothing else, buying the wrong part on a regular basis gives me the ability to do compare and contrast pics...

        Re: 1954 voltage regulator

Can anyone tell me whether the "aircraft style" radio interference shileding capacitors mounted on the 1955 voltage regulator bracket are the same as the #1926873 capacitors used on the 1954 regulator bracket? Thanks.

53-54 capacitors all are the same (shielding and VR) 55 capacitor on the coil shielding is different (all by it's self) but the 55 VR capacitors are the same as 53-54 is that what your asking?

Yes, Roy. That's precisely what I was asking. Thanks for responding.
