    1961 wiper motor

    My wiper motor has gotten dull and darker
    since its restoration.Is there any way I
    can brighten it up.

    (1) Lightly scrub the plated surfaces with a moist Brillo pad to remove the oxidation that naturally builds up.

    (2) Polish the plated surfaces with a specialty cleaning chemical like Brasso.

    (3) Remove the motor and have it re-restored.

    Bottom line, some pieces are stamped steel with cad/zinc plating and they WILL naturally oxidize and dull with air exposure over time. Other parts are pot metal that'll do the same. Absent some kind of clear coating (ususally savvy judges can detect its presense), you're fighting a natural 'aging' process....
