    '69 Hardtop only option?

In 1969 was there a "hardtop only" option available, and where is that documented, if so?

Part two of my question is, if I have my '69 judged with only a hardtop mounted, and the top is dated 1971, will I lose all points regarding tops since the hardtop is not dated 1969?

    Thanks

Rich, yes there was a hardtop only convertible available in 1969. I have owned one and Joe Lucia also has one. It is my understanding that you had the option of either top at no additional charge.

I have a 1969 dealer order copy and it shows option CO7 Removable hard top with a place to X "In place of soft top" and a place to X In addtion to soft top" so yes to the first part of the question. Only makes sense that a hardtop dated way after the car will be a deduct. GL

I forgot to answer the second part of the question. Yes you will take a deduct for what I am assuming is a 1971 rear glass. Good thing is that this is just 1/4 of the glass judged and the deduction should be minimal. Look forward to seeing the car

          Rich-----

It's just as Dick and GL have described. This is one of the things that I know FOR SURE. As Dick mentioned, I factory-ordered a 1969 Corvette convertible with hard-top only and I still have it (although it's had a soft top, too, since 1986).

In 1969, a hard-top could be ordered in place of a soft top. There was no charge for this "option" and the base price of the car remained the same as the convertible supplied with soft-top only.

Convertible buyers had this "option" for 1968 through the last year of C3 convertible production in 1975. It may also have been available for C2 convertible buyers as well. I'm not sure about that, though.

C4 convertible buyers never had this option. A soft-top was supplied with ALL convertibles. If you wanted a hard-top (after they became available), you had to pay extra for it and it was supplied in addition to the soft top.

not only were the c-2 convertibles available as hardtop only vettes, the c-1's were also available as such. mike

Thanks folks for providing great information. My primary concern is that since the hardtop is dated '71, and there is no conv top mounted, my car would be judged as having no top (big deduct) at all since the window date on the h'top is outside the judging parameter for my car's build date.

See Dickie W's second responce above....

The only deduct will be a portion of the points assigned to the top's glass date. You will get credit for the rest of the top and glass.

And if the date code deduct bugs you, you can send the glass to OEM and they will change the date for you. They do not have 68-75 hardtop glass, so, they will provide that service. Only thing is, I'm not sure if they only provide that service for those that purchase other glass from them.
