    56 wheels riveted or welded?

What is the consensus regarding the construction of standard 15 x 5 inch wheels for 1956 Corvettes? Are they welded or riveted construction?

FWIW, I just rediscovered three of the original wheels from my 57(#3143 - 2nd owner) -- two are welded and one is riveted!

Ed, for judging purposes, welded is the correct configuration. They must have the dog bone cut outs. I have taken my '56 through four top flights, bloomington gold and triple crown and it is clearly welded the judges are looking for. Personal opinion, I believe there may have been both, but judging goes with welded.

Agree with Roy that "nothing is for sure." The NCRS '53-'55 Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide states that, on '55's, "All wheels can be welded OR riveted." (emphasis added) Don't know about '56's.
