I attended Carlisle for the first time and was hoping to find an A212CW air filter element for a semi-fair price. After walking through the vendors several times and asking, here's what I found. Here's a picture after a couple of hours of careful cleaning.

Congrats Jody! Looks like you have something that will work great. I can't tell from the picture but does it still have the oil on the filter element? How did you clean it? I found a vendor at Carlisle that wanted $1,250.00 for his. That's not a typo. I bet this is not it.Terry Buchanan

Re: Not quite a barn find, but......
Terry, $1250 is a lot better price than I saw at Bloomington this past year. The filter at Bloomington was $5,000. His comment to me was "go find another one." I believe he meant "good luck, they are very difficult to find at any price." I slowly poured Naptha through the inside of the filter and constantly rotated the filter, about 1 1/2 gallons. I set my air compressor on 20 lbs. and held the nozzle some distance from the inside of the filter and rotated the filter while lightly blowing air through it. I took a small amount of oil and placed it into a spray bottle and lightly squirted the filter. As I recall, my filter looks as good as the one at Bloomington for considerably less money.- Top

I thought the wire mesh was a square pattern not the diamond that is shown in the picture. I have a NOS 212 filter in the original AC box that has the square mesh that I will post a picture of tomorrow.- Top

Re: Not quite a barn find, but......
While you guys or on the subject, I am surprised that at the national level the NCRS does not use a device to measure the cubic inches of the corvette engine to see if it is standard bore from the factory. Could use the same measuring device that NASCAR uses to check the engines. I mean come on how far do you want to take it, when you have to put a used air filter on a car for a few points? Why not use the cubic inch tester?- Top

Re: Not quite a barn find, but......
Rob, I found Naphtha at the local Lowes and we are a small community. I only posted a picture of the element because I thought it was kind of cool that these parts could be found at reasonble prices. The post about judging air in the tires, etc. is something i can't see and don't care about, but when I open the hood I can see the air filter element, I like having an original old element, to each his own.- Top
