    63' Exhaust French Locks

Are the exhaust french locks and ignition shielding "L" bracket in 63 originally stainless or steel?

    Re: 63' Exhaust French Locks

The orginal French locks were steel not stainless. I was the first to reproduce these when I could not get the correct shape for my car back in 1981. I still have about 1000 of them left over. Dave

I'm pretty sure the french locks on the exhaust manifolds are just plain carbon steel, Larry, maybe with a phosphate coating. Refresh my memory on the "L bracket" - which on is it?

        Exhaust French Locks 1962

1962 & back were definately unplated carbon steel, not stainless. L brackets for spark plug shielding were zinc plate with service replacements in zinc dichromate Spark plug heat shields were zinc plate. I've seen some that have been zinc dichromated but I think they were reproductions. One of the heat shields is still available at Mr. Goodwrench.
