Brain Box 1992 Corvette

A friend of mine asked where the best place to get a "Brain Box" for his 1992 corvette. Apparently it sits in the engine compartment above the cruise control. The car has been having troubles starting and staying run. Looking for both new and used sources. Could someone suggest the "right price to pay also"

There never have been available new units. GM always sold these as remanufactured with a core charge. However, if one had purchased back in 1992 to about 1995 there was a good chance that the "remanufactured" unit was actually brand new. Not now, though.

The original part number for the ECM available in SERVICE (NOT the same number as used in PRODUCTION and appearing on the original unit) was GM #16159278. That part was discontinued some time ago and replaced by GM #88999183 which remains available.

A good Delco system price on this unit is about $150 plus a core charge of about $115.

Used can be obtained from www.contemporarycorvette.com. The new price that Joe posted seems very reasonable. Hope it solves the 92's running problem.
