C3: trim ring configuration

What model years used the trim rings with the small recess that ran all the way around the diameter/inside edge of the ring? Did all '69-77 C3 trim rings have this feature? I see aftermarket trim rings do not have the indent.

Also, when and how did the clip configuratioin change from year to year, and how did it change?

Hi Dan. Do you get the NCRS Restorer Magazine? The latest edition (Summer 2007) has an excellent article ("Rallying Point") by Rick Miller detailing 67-82 trim rings. It includes great pictures, and can answer all your questions.
