Harbor Freight is recalling 295,000 fuse kits because of reports the fuses are not operating at the proper amperage. Another poor quality product from China.

Manufacturing fuses is a REAL technology artform! Since testing to verify proper operation is inherently DESTRUCTIVE, you have to source control the materials used + the manufacturing process and verify the final product by random sample lot testing with statistical inference.

Since fuses are a safety component, those in the business take the production quality assurance role SERIOUSLY. For 'bad' fuses to have escaped the production source site, I'd bet on one of three problems:

(1) Lack of source inspectors in the plant doing their job.
(2) Source inspectors 'bribed' to turn their heads and ignore their jobs.
(3) Distributor of the final product was a real novice in terms of QA/QC...

These Are The Same Guys...

That put poison in pet food, antifreeze in toothpaste, and leaded paint on children's toys.

I expect it's Reason (3)...the Chinese are finding out that there's more to manufacturing than just making the goods look just like similar American products.

Reason (2) might have occured, but such direction from the top would seem unlikely...Look for another Chinese director to have an "accidental" death. Their gluten guy got the firing squad; And, after the world said, "You can't do that!!!", the next CEO on the *hit-list "committed suicide" by hanging himself in an abandoned warehouse. Yeah, right...No golden umbrella for you, Charlie!
