    wiring diagram manual??

I am trying to chase an electric short in an 82. I have the assembly manual (just shows harness) and the haynes repair manual (almost totally usless basic wiring info). Is there a good wiring diagram manual out there?

    Re: wiring diagram manual?? *TL*

You may want to check out the NCRS Store. http://209.15.96.123/store/shop.cgi/...log.RefLib.htm

Page 7 of the store contains: Wiring Diagrams for 1953-72 and 1973-82 Corvettes at the bottom of the page. The description is:

NCRS has compiled all of the Corvette electrical wiring diagrams and put them in these two new books. Each includes blowups of the main wiring harness circuit diagram for each year, plus additional diagrams for options and accessories. Spiral bound, 9" x 12" with 76 to 86 pages. Please specify year(s).

At only $15.00 you can't go wrong, and you can order it from the comfort of your chair.

Re: Try phone or FAX *TL*

I know it is old fashioned, but you could phone Eric or Gary now that it is Monday Morning. Phone is 513-385-8526 - or if you can't get to it until after business hours the FAX works 24 hours 513-385-8554.

Good luck with your wiring problems.

Are you asking for the right info?

I've griped a few times about the poor electrical documentation Chevy provided (wiring diagrams vs. full electrical schematics), but your situation is different. You're working on a later model Shark car from the 'enlightened' period....

Starting somewhere around '76 (might be '75, might be '78 -- so don't take me literally) there was a separate 'omnibus' manual in the Chevy documentation line up. Don't have one here, but I can get you specifics if you're interested and post a follow-up request....

The book is ST-XXX-YY where XXX is the publication number I can't remember off-hand and YY is the model year of the car. So, you want ST-XXX-82 for your application.

The book contains nice, neat, FULLY LEGIBLE fold-out B-sized drawings for ALL Chevy passenger cars of that year in FULL electrical schematic detail!!!! And, yes Virginia, the book includes Corvette. With this any skilled tech or degreed EE can fully troubleshoot his/her car. I don't remember seeing this documentation book listed in the NCRS Merchandise Library nor do I remember anyone else talking about it, but it DOES exist because I've got factory fresh '78 and '80 versions in my support library at work.

I suggest a professional automotive documentation source, like Helm, Inc. of Detroit, MI (try information at area code 303) can walk you through the order process for this item. Good luck!

                Not a Member?

I cannot possibly understand why a few of our DB folks aren't members of the NCRS. The membership dues are extremely low considering what you get. I think the Restorer alone is worth $10.00 a copy. And look at Driveline! All those want ads? How can you beat it?
