OEM radio amplifier

Can the original radio amplifier that is in a 76 vette be hooked up to a newer radio such as a Kenwood for increased output??

Thanks for your response Dale. Could anyone tell me how to hook it up and what kind of a power increase I could expect? Mine is just hanging there. The radio is a Kenwood am/fm cassette with about 15 watts per channel. thanks again!

Just about any audio technician can do this job. TV repair house, etc. I'd have to have my hands on to instruct you.

If the '76 radio is similar to the '69-74 radios the answer is most definately not. The "amplifier" on these radios is just an output transistor, not a standalone, turn-key amplifier. Using an aftermarket radio with this "amplifier" is not possible. Again let me prefice this by saying this is true if it is the same as '69 - '74's. (I'm an EE and just got done fixing up a radio for my '70.)
