Like I need a hole in my head...I just picked up a very worn '75 Saddle L48/Auto Coupe (to go along with "Project Katrina"). First order of cosmetic business will be paint. Since this car is substantially complete, I am more concerned with keeping the paint within acceptable standards. Except for the urethane, I think that I can probably touch up the gravel chips an door dings. Is the '75 a lacquer finish? Has anyone out there successfully brought back a rough finish to acceptable standards?

Re: But Babe...it followed me home....
Tommy you remind me of my brother. He went to an auction and thinking he was the first bidder on a 85 Corvette for about 6K it would go higher. It didn't and he bought his first Corvette. Haven't seen it yet, it runs good and the manual 4+3 works fine. One good thing is that he does have a place to store his cars.- Top

Tommy,
There is some excellent information about restoring original paint to acceptable (and beyond acceptable) standards in a book called Secrets of Corvette Detailing by Mike Antonick. I believe you can purchase it through the NCRS bookstore, or perhaps you can borrow a copy from one of your buddies.
Good luck,
