    C-3 Alternator

Gathering up numbers & codes on my buddys new ride a 1976 L82 with A/C. All seems good so far with the exception of the alternator #1102480. 61 Amp. Date code of "6L9". The date code looks correct but the part number seems odd. Any help would be appreciated, THANKS ALL.

The date code of "6L9" indicates an alternator manufactured on November 9, 1976. That's too late to have been originally used on any 1976 Corvette which ended production in August, 1976. So, it's definitely a replacement alternator.

The GM #1102480 was used in PRODUCTION for later 1975 Corvettes requiring a 61 amp alternator. However, it was likely produced for SERVICE well after that time. That's may be how it came to be used on your friend's car-----an early SERVICE replacement alternator.
