    SBC - C1 - Checking driveline angles...

...am trying to check driveline angles on a 50 year old sta wag. It's a Nomad, but could'a been a Corvette. Question: In looking for angle reference, the oil filter on the almost original 383" GM crate engine offers itself as a possible reference. So, can some nice, well informed, person tell me if the vertical position of the oil filter is machined to be perpendicular to the crankshaft of the engine or not. Hoping to thank you for your help. Don't know. Why not use the bellhousing flange?

Could use a valve cover too - was just curious. *NM*

        Dennis -

Yes, the oil filter attaching surface machining is a solid reference; so is the pan rail.
