Re: 71 options
In 1971, the standard, base engine (SB), provided buyers with a choice of 'economy' or 'standard' rear axle ratios with manual transmission. Economy was the 3.08 gear ratio and standard was a 3.36 ratio.
When the LT1 option was selected, the selection table expanded to three choices: standard, economy or performance with the individual gear ratios dictated by M20 vs. M21. For the wide ratio manual transmission (M20) the ratios were: 3.70, 3.55, or 4.11. With a close ration manual transmission (M21) the ratios were: 3.55, 3.36 or 3.70.
There were separate tables for the BB LS5 and LS6 engines. The 3.70 rear gear ratio wasn't a member of the table choices, but could be ordered outside the ratio table for both LS5 and LS6 engines with wide ratio manual transmissions.- Top

Re: 71 options
Dick are you sure C3 convertibles had an extra body mount under the door sill? This would place it between the one behind the kick panel/speaker panel and the body mount accessable by removing the plate at the front of the rear fenderwell.- Top

Re: 71 options
Oops! Semantics are at it again. The additional mount for a convertible is accessed thru the kick panel. Anywho, an extra pair of mounts vs a coupe.

Re: 71 options
Dickie, I think you're thinking the C3 Number 1 body mount is at the radiator support like the C2s(?).
I know you know this, but actually there is not a "front" body mount on C3s per se (at least through 72) like on earlier cars; the radiator support simply bolts to the front frame crossmember. The Number 1 body mount is just in front of the firewall, Number 2 is inside the kick panel, Number 3 is at the front of the rear wheelwell, and Number 4 is exposed at the rear of the rear wheelwell...only eight total, coupe or convertible.
You had me going for a bit...I'm thinking, "Dang! Really?!...I never knew that!" But, then after Jim raised the flag, I checked the AIM...but I didn't say anything; I know how it is to be old.- Top
