A big block convertible I'm looking at may need to have it's frame replaced. Body and bird cage are solid but frame has seen better days. Regarding body mounting positions, are 1964 through 1967 frames pretty much alike in configuration? Aside from the provision for rear sway bar on a big block frame, it appears small frames are the same. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Mike?

Re: Big block/small block frame differences?
Mike-----
Most, if not all, 1964 frames do not have the relief in the front crossmember to provide clearance for the big block balancer. 1964 frames and some later frames MAY not have the weld nuts for the rear stabilizer bar retaining brackets; all big blocks require these.
Otherwise, the frames are the same except, of course, for the differences between convertible and coupe frames. That's not a small block versus big block issue, though, nor is it a 1964 versus later C2 issue. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Ok Joe, give us more. Please point out the differences between convertible frames as they relate to couple frames. Thanks in advance. Mike- Top

Re: Big block/small block frame differences?
In 67 the frame also has a bracket for the e-brake pulley.

Re: Big block/small block frame differences?
The convertible #2 body mount bracket was welded to the frame on the Chassis Line at St. Louis; there was only one part number frame for each model year, regardless of engine or transmission or body style.- Top

Re: Big block/small block frame differences?
Also "late", don't remember the exact date, 66s and all 67s will have provisions, i.e. holes, for mounting the muncie shifter to the frame cross member. Early 66s and earlier will not have these holes as the shifter is mounted to the tranny.
