67 First edition owners manual

My car was built in Feb 67' and I've been looking for an original owners manual. The ones I see on eBay for the past several months (original and repo) are all the 2nd edition, April 1967.
Was there a first edition and what was the difference?
Was there also a first and second edition POP book?
Is there any sure way to tell a repo from an original?
Evidently the bags all are dated March, 1966. Any info appreciated.

The only difference I know of is the printing date. Plastic bag, trim ring, and POP I think only have one date for your car.

Jeff,

Reproduction owner's manuals, if they don't have printed that they are reprinted, may be detectible by less distinct, or seemingly blurred, photos. Also, I believe there may be no card to return for Corvette Quarterly magazine. When you see an original beside a reproduction, these and other differences are obvious.

Yes, there was a first edition of the manual, dated August 1966. This version is more rare than the second edition and they tend to cost more when you find them, but they do show up on ebay and elsewhere.

My early April car came with a first edition manual, but I think there was a transition period where either version appeared. For your February car, though, it seems likely that that only the first edition would have been available.

As Kent and others have noted, the photos in the reproduction manuals are less clear than the originals, and most reproductions lack the Corvette News subscription card.
