Just a note of thanks to John Bissell and the Mid-ATlantic NCRS newsletter for publishing this article. Its exactly what I was dealing with and the Fel-Pro#2912 is going in as we speak. (wasn't sure how to post it, but you can go to the web-site)

The Fel-Pro #2912 and GM #10121044 are EXACTLY the same seal.

Is it still available through GM? The fel pro was rather expensive.

Yes, it's still available from GM, but it's not cheap there, either. It GM lists for about $37.

do NOT forget the sealer between the block

and the rear bearing cap or you will still have a leak. the shop manual shows were it goes.
