from the location where finished cars were driven out. The St.Louis Corvette plant was purchased by a commercial property developer. He tried unsuccessfully to resell the St.Louis Corvette Plant..so he ended up selling the building for salvage.
Living nerby I worked with the Plant owner in getting ready the bricks as giveaways for the SACE route 66 roadtrip visit that Roy Braatz talks about below.
I also arranged for the yet to be built Corvette Museum to get the tall wooden railway doors which were originally designed into the new museums construction. The giant wooden doors were carefully removed from the building but a change in plans at the museum let the doors go to the salvage yard.
The plant owner sent me the bill...for the labor in removing the doors.
