Pointer On Oil Pressure Guage Fell Off!

OK, so it dropped off like a cannary off its perch. There it is, I see it, resting down at the bottom of the face. Questions are can it simply be gently pressed back on by hand, and can you access the inside of the guage without removing the dash cluster?

1) I believe that, in most cases, the needle can be re-installed as you suggest;

2) There's no way that I know of to access the gauge face without removing the dash cluster.

There's a real handy trick I just used where you cut 5 pieces of 1/4-20 threaded rod each 6 inches long. As you remove each of the 5 instrument cluster retainer screws, install one of threaded rods.

The threaded rods allow you to slide the cluster away from the instrument panel and give you both support and clearance to work on the back. Once you remove the speedometer and tachometer cables, the cluster will slide even farther forward.

I'll bet that will give you enough room to reach the screws holding on your oil pressure gauge pair.

I also removed the driver side seat and steering column but you may be able to get by only lowering the column.
