PS..If you look at the Nassau photo you sent of the starting line...Shelby is standing behind the #98 Ferrari...the car he drove to victory.
Roger Wilbanks of Denver owns that car ( remember it was at the Shelby event last year ). I talked with him on Thursday to confirm that..and I sent him a copy...with the acknowledgement that you had saved the photo from the Russ Sanders collection.
Roger also owns the 1941 Chrysler Newport Dual Cowl special that paced Indy that year...as well as many other super classics.- Top

Are you intending on being at the "Fab 50's"
gathering in Oct? I Intned to be there and have yet to contact Rich - if Jeffords cn be there, it would be only fair that two of his cars were there...if only to remind Carroll of his "Bowite rooots"..- Top

Geoff,
From what I've read in the archives and production numbers available, there were twelve 6-cylinder 1955 Corvettes produced. These were assembled because of engines left over in the 'bins' according to my research looong ago. During my research, I never read anything about export Corvettes of that vintage. I remember a NCRS member displaying a '55 chassis with 6-cylinder VIN but no engine at one of the Cypress Gardens events.

Kent,
If I remember, and that is not guaranteed - within the last few Kississimme (sp?) events, I thought I saw one, maybe two, but maybe that was an out of body experience. Nope. I looked at my own web site. There was a stunning Harverst Gold stovebolt present in 2006. Are you sure it's 12 stovebolts in 1955? If it is 12; then I have got it wrong on my web site.

Re: Back to the subject of the original post
Friend of mine sold one a couple of years back at B-J. It was not an early car. Several other serial numbers I've seen over the years seemed to be mixed through the model year. I always though like Roy that these were early build let over parts.- Top
