I need some help and clarification.
I looked at a 71 Corvette today. The paint code is 983 (brands hatch green) and the trim code is 417 (saddle). It is vinyl.
The codes are accurate but the charts don't show them as a pair. The trim tag on the car list these codes. I looked in my Buyers Guide by Richard Prince and it doesn't show this trim code with this paint code. I went on the Corvette Action Center and it didn't list it either, BUT...the following note was under the paint/trim code chart:
Notes: Along with the color combinations shown above, additional combinations were possible. According to the "Corvette Black Book" by Mike Antonick, color production total is 499 less than production for reasons unknown. Custom interiors only came in black or saddle colors and included leather seating.
The car is numbers matching and appears unmolested. The interior is original and it appears original. Unfortunately, the build sheet is not available. Is this a major concern? Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Greg
