ODE TO MY SWEETHEART by varooom

This was written during December of 1989 while humming David Allen Coe's panhead song over and over. I was taking a break in the Men's Room, Employee's lounge at Eckler's in Titusville, Fla.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx

    She's hard to get started

    She's always so cold

I find her in the mornings, she's looking so old

So many miles, we've been down the road once or twice

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx

She's not much to look at

    When we ride through town

But I know when the chips fall, she won't let me down

She knows how to fun, and she don't run around on a man

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx

She's a high flying lady, she takes me where I want to be

There's no other woman, standing between her and me

I'll always be faithful, and keep her till the end of time

    God knows I'll always

Love that old Corvette of mine

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxx

    She won't hardly idle

    Or run right to use

Her brakes pull, she rides rough like all 62's

I've been through Cobras, Vipers and Big Blocks galore

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxx

I've cussed her and beat her and kicked her just

To get her started a couple of times

    I guess I'm crazy but

I love that fuel car of mine

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx

Brings tears to my eyes. I'm bawlin like a baby!

Rev, I think it's time for a break. Maybe some medication.

      I'M FEELING MUCH BETTER

The above was written in 1989. I'm feeling much better since the shock treatments. I still love my 1962 Fuelie though!

Well, the next thing you know,Ol'Dale is in despair,The kin folk said,Git that big block out of there,And so with some tools, under an ole' shade tree,Dale got to work and,put a small block in,327--4speed--Fuel Injection!

            Re: Dang it, Dale...

You're making it hard to disagree with, but I thought it was good. (I know you weren't talking about the Corvette big blocks when you mentioned "big blocks", though.) TBarr #24014

              Dave,

In a split-second I thought of that exact same tune, so it was good from the start. Just polish them lyrics a little and you got a number one. TBarr #24014

How had you gone through Vipers by 1989?

...I think the fumes in the Men's Room are affecting you. Try opening a window or an early pre-flush.

Re: How had you gone through Vipers by 1989?

I changed the word "Stingrays" to "Vipers" in order to keep current, refrain from offending those of us who are mid-year fans, and provoke more banter on Viper/C5R stuff. I knew when I changed it that some of us with magnifying glasses glasses would post flap!

The fumes in Eckler's Men's Room are preferable to the ambient air in the "boiler-room" order taking corral! There's a LOT less S*#% going on in there!

                    Re: What ever happened to...

David Allen Coe?? Another CW singer lost on the great musical highway. Always thought he was torn between being a CW singer, hell's angels member and/or a pro wrestler. My kind of guy. Drive the new varooom truck carefully Dale, see you in Bloomington.
