    Top Flight Driver!

Got back from my first NCRS meet today. The NW Regional in Leavenworth, WA. The guys around me got better scores, but I'm happy anyway. Came away with a Top Flight in my first try even though they hit me hard on my glossy paint.

I drove the car from Seattle and she ran like a dream. Came home through pouring rain, and although I've never worried too much about the wet weather, I gotta tell ya it's not the most enjoyable thing to be driving down a wet mountain highway on bias plys.

I'm putting up this picture because it's the only one I have of me and the car, but I wish my friend hadn't snapped the picture as I was talking to him. Oh well.

    -Dave

The drive up was a lot better than the drive back home.

        A nicer ride than mine...

...,but I'm not sure how often it gets out of the garage.

I hope this red beauty made it back to Canada

At least it was rolling on radials.

                Thanks for the photos!

Looks like a nice turnout of cars and people - before the polar ice cap returns. There seem to be times in this hobby where much of the appreciation factor is to just view a 50 year old Corvette and relive in your own mind what the owner went through - in both $$$ and effort - to make it as good as it could be.
It also makes you want to thank the initial buyers of the 1953-5s who made Ed Cole and his cohorts keep trying to get it right because maybe there really is a market out there......

                  Dave,

Congratulations!!! I'm planning my first this January down here in Florida myself, with a car that looks like yours, except mine doesn't have those "special" side emblems. I've had mine over 20 years and it's time now for judging.

Your car looks great! Best of luck!

Nice job, it's great to see people driving their Corvette's and receiving awards rather than the trailer queens you usually see. Again nice job

                      Dave,

I have to jump in here to congratulate you on the top flight and for driving your car.

I don't get my 57 judged but drive it every where from Tulsa, Ok; Bloomington, NCRS National Convention, Carlisle, all this year. About 5500 miles so far.

The Regional in Leavenworth was fantastic!!!!! While a drove an Airbus and a rent a barge to and from the meet, there were quite a few owners drove their cars, including one 1,300 miles who got his top flight. Good cars, good friends.

In my opinion if you don't drive them why have one ? I never gave a thought to trailer it , I restored Corvettes to drive.

Congradulations on your TOP FLIGHT. I drive my 65 and enjoy it. I met Verle on the 2007 NCRS RD TOUR. Lots of old Corvettes driven from all over this USA. The general made them to drive and enjoy.

I agrre, but some people have other ideas. We put about 6000 miles a year on our 62. I figure the General built them to be driven and thats what I do.
