    Re: Going to Fun Fest?

Bill, We will be there, we only live about 30 miles north of Effingham. You're right, the weather sounds great. I've been restoring a 67 Roadster but I'm about a week off on having it ready for this week-end, I was really looking forward on taking it down to FunFest for the first outing. Oh well, I'm sure there will be some other real nice 67's to look at. Mike has Three Dog Night performing Saturday night. There was a post on here earlier about maybe charging to see the band this year but it's no different than in years past. If you drive a steel car to the event you have to pay a charge (I think it may be $5 a head). If you're in a Corvettes admission is FREE! The band playing right before Three Dog night is Blue Suede Crew. They play Elvis and some Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Two of the band members are in our local corvette club (Coles County Corvette Club). They are very entertaining so be sure you get there early to see them, I think they start about 5:00. Also a group of us are holding a raffle called "Corvettes for Chad". It is a raffle for a young man in the Marines from Mt. Zion (in Central Illinois). Chad lost his right leg above the knee in Iraq when the Hummer he was riding in got hit. We've known Chad and his family since he was about 4 years old. All the soldiers are special and Chad's no diferent. Chad has a positive attitude and he's not going to let this keep him down. He got hit the end of November and about 8 months later he had started jogging. We were hoping Chad would be able to be there this week-end but he's not going to be able to make it. He's at the Malone House next door to Walter Reed. I believe he may be getting out of the Marines towards the end of the year. Mike Yeager donated a leather Corvette jacket for us to raffle off (just another example of how the Yeager family helps out and cares about the community). We'll have a tent set up so if you are there be sure to look us up. Drawing will be right before the music starts( about 5:00). Besides the bands there's also alot of Corvette related events (merchandise, installation clinics, tech clinics, exhaust installation, Dyno, and more) About 14,000 Corvettes last year. See ya there Bill!

    Happy "Vettin"
