    AM/FM Radio Capacitor

Page 437 of the 1966 Assembly Manual shows various radio capacitors. There is one shown that mounts to the brake pedal support and connects to the stoplight switch along with the white wire from the harness. It appears to have only one wire coming from one end of the capacitor. I ordered this capacitor from a well known mid-year parts vendor and was sent a capacitor with wires at each end. They insist that it is the correct part. Can someone tell me what is correct? Could there have been a change after the Assembly Manual was printed?

    Thanks,
    Mike #30448

That capacitor should be connected across the brake light switch... one wire on each pole of the switch...thus 2 wires. Fold the wire tab ends over the poles on the switch and then slip the wire plugs over both.

Thanks Steve, especially for the photo. I can see now that the capacitor should be attached to the underside of the pedal support. The assembly manual shows it mounted on the left side.

That is the left side. Remember, the photo is taken from the front and the pedals are upside down......

On a '66, the capacitor IS mounted on the outside of the support; it changed in '67 to the inside, as shown in Steve's photo.

Steve, is that a reproduction capacitor? Terry

Very clean. Most that I find are a little rough looking. Thanks, for the responce. Terry
